Salem UMC: Vacation Bible School

We are inviting all pre-k (age 4) – rising 5th grade children to be a part of the excitement at our Vacation Bible School in 2009 scheduled for June 22-26th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM for Preschool Class and 5:30 - 8:30 PM 1st - 5th.  There will be snacks and supper provided for participants.  Our Duke Intern, Anna Adams, will be conducting an Adult Bible study around the same Camp E.D.G.E. theme.  There is something for all ages each night.  We will have a Kick-Off Picnic on Sunday, June 21st beginning at 4:00 pm.  Make plans now to join us.

Camp E.D.G.E. Vacation Bible School 2009 takes your children to an extreme adventure camp where they Experience and Discover God Everywhere!  C amp E.D.G.E. VBS is not your typical stroll through the woods.  It's an action-packed, adrenaline-filled expedition that teaches kids their strength and might come from God. Through rockin' contemporary music, larger-than-life recreation games, mind-boggling science activities, extreme sports videos, and cool, challenging crafts, you'll show your kids how to live on the E.D.G.E. in their faith.

Camp E.D.G.E. takes VBS to the extreme in 2009!

Session One:  God is with Me.  I will stay close to God.  Bible Story:  Trek to the Promised Land (Joshua 1:1-11; 3:1–4:18)  Bible Verse:  Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God. –    Isaiah 41:10

Session Two:  God guides me.  I will follow. Bible Story:  Trek to Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1-12) Bible Verse:  I am the Lord your God, who teaches you for your own good, who leads you in the way you should go.  – Isaiah 48:17b

Session Three:  God teaches me.  I will learn. Bible Story:  Trek to the Pharisee’s House (Luke 14:7-14) Bible Verse:  You call me Teacher and Lord – and you are right, for that is what I am. – John 13:13

Session Four:  God loves me.  I will love God and others. Bible Story:  Trek to the Upper Room (John 13:3-20; 13:33–14:30; 16:12–18:1) Bible Verse:  This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. – John 15:12

Session Five:  God sends me.  I will go. Bible Story:  Trek to Galilee (Matthew 28:1-10, 16-20) Bible Verse:  And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” - Mark 16:15

Adult VBS

 Our kids won't be the only ones "living on the EDGE" this summer! During VBS Anna the Intern will be offering an adult study focusing on several of the key scripture passages and themes that our children will be exploring in their classrooms.  We'll be exploring a few passages from the Old Testament. Then we'll be turning to focus on key moments in the life and teachings of Jesus. We hope that the adults will join our children for a meal. Following the meal, Anna will lead study sessions geared to adult growth and spiritual formation. We can all pursue a life on the growing EDGE of faith. Come join all generations at Camp E.D.G.E.!
