Alaska Mission Trip June 22 - July 2nd

We have a group of ten: Susan G. Paul, Sharon Chapman, Kevin Mayo, Adam & Christian Carraway, Alex & Mindy Stoica, Marc & Joey Boettger and Susan Gibson will be going to Ninilchik, Alaska to help our sister church St. Peter the Fisherman UMC. This is a small, elderly congregation in a very rural part of Alaska. They are unable to do some much needed repairs to their church and our group is going to help out! In addition to painting and repairs we will also building a chancel rail for the church. Can you imagine not having a place to kneel in your sanctuary? A huge thank you goes out to Charles Rice who is helping to design and pre-construct the rail and also to Charles and Nicki Smtih who will be transporting the pre-constructed rail for us at the end of April. Our team will assemble and install the chancel rail when we arrive in June.

We are all very appreciative of the support Salem and her people have already given us. But we're not done yet! We have raised almost $4,000 of the $10,000 that is needed to send our team. This will cover transportation needs of our team and supplies only. The people of St. Peter will be lodging and feeding the team while they are there.

You can help! Salem will host a Classic Car & Bike Show on May 3rd (rain or shine). Come on out and show your support. You don't have to have a car in the show to attend! Lots of fun, food and games all day not to mention the "womanless beauty pageant" beginning at 3:30 pm and donation only dinner at 5:00 followed by a 50's style Sock Hop! Lots of fun for everyone. All proceeds will benefit our Alaska Mission Trip.
