February is Love Month. Let's show some love to G. R. Whitfield's students. We can by sending them paper products such as kleenex, paper towels, hand sanitizers, wipes and be creative. We'll have collection bins at the front church entrance and the fellowship hall entrance beginning February 5th  thru February 26th.  UMW will deliver these products and  if you would like to join us when we deliver, just let us know. We'll all get a blessing. We may even need the bus to get everything to Whitfield, including us. Salem United Methodist Women.

 

FEBRUARY 19 FUNDRAISER

On February 19, beginning at 11 a.m., there will be a soup and sandwich luncheon fundraiser. The proceeds will be divided between Reach 42 (youth) and the United Methodist Men. 10% of youth proceeds will go to World Vision's 30 Hour Famine and the rest to help cover ministry costs of upcoming trips/events during 2012. The UMM portion will go toward their meals for the Community Shelter. Come out and support these worthy causes. Donations only.

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL BREAKFAST

On February 26, there will be a Sunday School fellowship breakfast in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 9:45 a.m. Sunday School classes of all ages will gather to eat, mingle and sing. The children will be dismissed to their classes at approximately 10:20 and the Adult Sunday School classes will introduce briefly their members and what they study. Even if you are not currently involved in Sunday School, we want you to join us. This can be an opportunity for your family to find a place in Sunday School and/or make suggestions as to topics for both ongoing or short term classes. If you are willing to bring a favorite breakfast dish to share, please let Katrina Hinson, Khinson@almanid.com  or Angie Bennett benneta.wnt@pitt.k12.nc.us know. See you then!

Backpack Pals is in need of your help!  This year we have 70 students at G. R. Whitfield that we are feeding each weekend.  Monetary donations are welcomed.  We shop in bulk at Sam’s to stretch our dollars.  Please make checks payable to Salem UMC or Salem UMW and on your memo line be sure to include BackPack Pals.  If you prefer to donate items, suggested items are individual servings of cereal, ravioli, juice boxes, applesauce, Vienna sausage, nabs, granola bars, peanuts, animal crackers,  & chips.  All food must be pre-packaged and easy to use (not needing stoves and/or ovens).  For further information or answers to questions contact Rebecca McLawhorn at 758-2210.

Our backpacks go to students at G. R. Whitfield Elememntary. For more information on food needed and other ways to help, check the link at the top of the page.                           

JOIN US FOR WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS The meals is served beginning at 5:45 PM. Children 5th grade and under eat for free, suggested donation for youth and adults is $5. Reach 42 (Youth) begins at 6:15 PM in the Paramore Building and concludes at 7:30. Kids for Jesus (K4J), children ages 4 years - 5th grades begins at 6:30 PM until 7:30 PM. Adult programs available after the meal. Nursery provided beginning at 6:15. Come join us!

Salem Card Ministry Salem Methodist Church has started a card ministry for prayers, cares, sympathy, concerns, and support. You can request a card for any purpose you wish. Request forms are by the boxes at both entrances to the sanctuary. You can also email your requests to salemcardministry@hotmail.com.
